For the LOVE of Frosting

The fact that my daughter decorated cookies.....lots, and lots and LOTS of cookies kind of got lost in the mix of me turning 29+3. These cookies are divine. They are light and flaky, soft and buttery. Everything you would ever wanted in a Sugar cookie. However, they are made from a recipe that has been in the family for years. A recipe that I hope to someday have access to. So, please, don't ask me for the recipie, because, NO, I will NOT share it, and I don't even have it. Perhaps some day my Dad will share it with me. Until then, I am content to let him bake these Sugericious cookies.

I think she really ate more frosting then she put on the cookies.

But, really, Who Care?

And, believe it or not, its been almost 2 weeks since she did this, and it's still something she chatters about.

Heather Turns 29 + 3

A birthday dinner request full-filled.

My favorite yellow layer cake with chocolate frosting so sweet it makes your teeth ache that only my Dad really knows how to make.

And the smiling face of my Mayhem Maker.

My day was complete. All the way around.

Happy Birthday to me!

The Coffee Lovers Prayer

My very good friend posted this to her brother on Facebook who is currently living in Japan. Both of whom I know read this space on a regular basis. I hope she doesn't mind - but I 'borrowed' it as it was too good not to share.

Caffeine is my shepherd; I shall not doze.
It maketh me to wake in green pastures;
It leadeth me beyond the sleeping masses.
It restoreth my buzz;
It leadeth me in the paths of consciousness for its name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of addiction, I will fear no Equal;
For thou art with me; thy cream and thy sugar they comfort me.
Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of Dunkin Donuts;
Thou anointest my day with pep;
my mug runneth over.
Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the House of Mochas forever.

Early Morning Love

My husband had some wonky hours this week & has been home most of the week with Madaline. I have had a week from hell at work. Wednesday, I was up earlier than usual - and I took a few minutes to whip up some Blueberry & Blueberry/Raspberry muffins. It was cold, I was hungry, and I wanted something warm for breakfast. These were ready to come out of the oven before I was even was done drying my hair.

I left them on the counter, with a little note.

Now....who wouldn't want to come downstairs to that and a coffee pot full of liquid french roast?
